Tasmanian Smithfield
The Tasmanian Smithfield is a working breed that has informal breed status in Tasmania. Similar coarse-coated dogs are occasionally seen working stock in mainland Australia.
Like the Halls Heeler, the ancestors of the Tasmanian Smithfield were among the working dogs that found their way to the New South Wales colony with the convict fleets in 1788 and later.
